Testimony by Jaya Kumar

My name is Jaya Kumar age 44. I was from an Hindu family, but today as I stand here I am declaring the Lordship of Jesus Christ over my life.

Let me share how I came to know Christ. At the age of 22 I was in the SAF as a regular while in the SAF my occasional drinking habit gradually increased and I became an alcohol addict. During my addiction I stole, cheated, lied and behaved violently and due to my violent behavior I was imprisoned.

After completion of my prison term I still continued with my drinking habit and to the extend of being chased out of house by my family members several times. While I was in the streets sleeping in the void deck I chose to go to IMH to get treatment for alcohol addiction, as I went through the treatment I was recommended by Mr. Arthur Lee to admit myself at the Christian Care Services Singapore ka Care Centre.

While at Care Centre, I went through a 12 step program in that a 4 component of recovery approach I was touched by the spiritual component which is base on the biblical principles the word of the true living God. Transformation in my life starting taking place as I read the Word of God, walking right with God and I got baptized.

I started to experience the grace of God upon my life and my family members saw the changes in me from what Iwas before and they accepted me. In the 5 years of a born again believer I have seen and experience the miraculous work of God in many areas of my life.

Now that I live a life full of victories, hope and joy this psalms comes to mind, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalms 34:8 (NIV)

Today as I stand before you I thank my God for giving me this opportunity to serve the Care Centre as a project coordinator and using me as a vessel for touching others in similar situation.
